Smith carried nfs bat for 112, and, barring a chance of stumping when past 60, gave a faultless display, and was warmly complimented. Kenton had the brunt of the bowling, and ;'<p»me-bnt with the best figures, Cotterill “tand Lusk also doing fairly wall. Hawke’s Bay's i batting display was disappointing, as with the exception of Lusk and . Sharp not one of. the others batted* up to form.
