POLO TOURNAMENT

ONE OF THE BEST GAMES SEEN IN COLONY.

The New Zealand Polo Association waß favored with delightful weather to-day for ! the final games of the tournament. Mana--1 watu A team met Bangitikei in the final for the Saville Cup, and a great exhibition of polo was witnessed. Probably not a finer game has been seen in the colony. The fortunes of each team went up and down alternately as the various spells proceeded, but as the end drew near it was apparent that the Manawatu players had their opponents beaten. The margin, however, was ooly one goal. Undoubtedly the more dashing team won. At the end of the third spell the score was two goals each, Dalrymple having soored twice for Bangitikei, and Abraham and A. Strang for Manawatu. In the next spell Dalrymple got two goals for Bangitikei, and R. Wilson one, A. Strang, also scoring for Manawatu. In the next two spells the difference was wiped off by J. and W. Strang, the score at the end. of the fifth round being five each with ten minutes to go. In the final Manawatu made a vigorous attack. J. Strang carried the ball through, and made an opening for Abraham, who scored, thus giviug Manawatu the advan J tage of a goal. Abraham immediately followed this up by driving another goal, Manawatu now led by a couple of goals. This was reduced by one, when B. Wilson placed a goal to Rangitikei’s credit. There were only three minutes to go. Manawatu had much the best of the play during this time, and twice missed scoring. . The game ended in favor of Manawatu by. ono goal.

In the final for the Handicap Cup Wellington A beat Manawatu by 15 goals to 12.
