At a representative mooting of citizens this evening, the Mayor presiding, it was resolved to form a harbor loaguc to take steps to improve tho local shipping facilities. It is anticipated that the construction of the railway to Ross will develop a largo timber trade. The fooling is strong here that every effort must be made to cater for the trado. A strong committee was set up to report to a public meeting. Sergt.-Major Macdonald, who is retiring from the police after 34 years’ servioe, was presented by the members of the force in the district with a suitable gift in recognition of his servicos.
