She struck the tail end of the hurricane on Monday. The steamer was hove to for eight hours. The Government schooner Countess of Ranfurly was to leave Raratonga this week for the Penhryn Islands for survey purposes. The British warship Shearwater ealled at Papeete and Tahiti, from Vancouver on January 8, en route to Pitcairn Island, and when there will enquire of the three mutineers who attempted the life of Captain Peattie,, of the ship Leicester Caslle, when three miles north of the islands in September landed on the island. WOODVILLE, last night.
