The report of the Harbour Board for the period of nine months, presented at the statuory meeting to-day shows that the work has grown enormously in all departments. The Secretary states that the problem is now to provide accommodation for the growth of trade. Since the incorporation of the Board in 1880, the revenue lias amounted to £1,571,490, of which £851,084 was derived from loan. The sum 0f£96,843 represents the revenue moneys and the remainder from revenue for the 12 months ended September, 1902. The Board has spent just upon a million* and a half since its constitution. DUNEDIN, last night,-
The Magistrate, Mr Graham, this morning dismissed the previously : heard case against Macassey, secretary of the Forbury Park Racing Club, charged with inserting an advertisement in the Star for the purpose of inducing persons to tret at the recent meeting at Forbury. The infant daughter of Mr, T. B, •McCarthy, of Riverton, aged 21 months, was run over by a trap on Saturday night, and fatally injured. Two men named Joseph Raven and Alfred Daplyn were drowned at Fortrose on Sunday evening,. They went out in a Hat bottomed boat for a row. The boat swamped on the b»x. Two others who were in the boat were rescued iu an exhausted condition.
