BOWLING TOURNAMENT.

By Telograph—Press Association. Palmerston North, last night. Tho bowling tournament was continued to-day in magnificent weather, and the only sensational feature was the defeat of Palmerston by the Upper Plains team, a Masterton combination considered quite out of tho running, and which was defeated later on in the day by Dannevirke by no less than 25 to 14. Soveral good games were played during the day, but there was nothing of a sensational character. Newmarket is loading with 9 wins 1 loss ; Palmerston and Napier having 8 wins and 2 losses ; Wellington, 8 and 3 ; Masterton, Hastings, and Victoria, 7 and 8; New Plymouth and Wanganui, 7 and 4. Two more rounds will be played tomorrow morning, after which the finals will be played.

(Special to Times.) Palmerston, last night. At the bowling tournament to-day the fortunes of war were all against Gisborne, who were dofeatod by Feilding, Newtown, and Thorndon. All three matches were closely contested, and tho Thorndon game was lost on the last head. Kaiti shared the samo fate as the town club, and did not get a win to-day. Whataupoko defeated Dannevirke by half-a-dozen points, and just beat Ponsonby on tho post by a point. In the match against Feilding, Whataupoko practically had the game won, and then allowed their opponents to got in fourteen points in throe heads, a seven, a fivo, and a two. In tho ovont of Palmerston going down to Wanganui, Whataupoko havo a chanco for championship honors, that is assuming

that they do not loso auothor match. It is probablo that tho GisborneWhataupoko match will bo played tomorrow afternoon.
