In response;to a telegram from the Manawatu A. and P. Association, relative to the probability of the dates of the general election, if held in the middle of November, proving detrimental to the interests of the snow to be held on November 12, 13, and 14, the Acting-Premier has stated that he will see that the fixture is not interfered with by the election dates, HAWERA, last night.

Delegates'! from the Farmers’ Union branches in Patea electorate have decided to organise in view of the elections, and submit questions to candidates, the answers, to be returnable in a fortnight. While a syndicate might bo found to pay off colonial indebtedness in consideration of receiving the colonial railways, it would do so because it would consider the carrying monopoly which accompanied the transfer a very valuable part of the transaction.
