By Telograph—Press Association. Auckland, last night.
Sheep and cattle brought high prices at yesterday’s sales, 23s bein3 paid for sheep that recently would have fetched 14s to 15s. In cattle Ll 6 was paid for some fine beasts, and others were correspondingly dear. ,

Our entries of cattle were 86 head, nearly all of which were cows and heifers. For good cows at profit there was a fair demand, but, owing doubtless to the scarcity of feed, buyers were not inclined to me et owners’ reserves for backward heifers, a number of which were passed at from L 5 10s to L 6 7s 6d. The following prices were realised : Cows at profit, L 8 10s to L 9 ; heifers at profit, L 6 10s to L 6 15 s i heifers due in October, L 5 15s. Sheep : Entries were below requirements, and elicited good competition. Empty ewes, in fair condition, realised 7s 3d to 7s 6d, inferior 6s iod.
