STEAMER AGROUND.

U.S.S. ORETI ON FAREWELL SPIT,

((Per Press Association.) (Telephoned from Napier.) Wellington, last night. The steamer Oreti, bound from Taranaki to Westport with a cargo of cattle, ran aground on Farewell Spit to-day. All hands are safe.

A message received to-night states that the vessel will probably come off at high water.
