HUSTLING THE PRO-BOERS.

A BIG RIOT. ' MAN KILLED AND 27 INJURED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Dec. 19. At a pro-Boer meeting at Birmingham Town llall many Unionists gained admission and assailed Mr S. Lloyd George, member of the House of Commons for Carnarvon, with eries of “ traitor.” They prevented him speaking. Mr George escaped in a policeman's clothes. Forty thousand people outside the building smashed the windows and carried a vote of confidence in the Government. Rioting followed the breaking up of the meeting inside the building. The indignation which characterised the meeting was largely due to Mr George's previous attitude, coupled with the attempts of Sir H. C. Baunerman's supporters to interpret Lord Rosebery's speech as leaning in their direction. Twenty-seven people were injured at the Birmingham meeting, and one killed.
