FIRE IN PEEL STREET.

A I'KW minutes before nine o’clock on Saturday evening a fire occurred in Peel street, resulting in the destruction of a four-roomed cottage, the property of Mr •J. W. Wade, and occupied by six young men, namely Messrs G. Tattersall, A. Tanner, James Pirie, G. Stevenson, Geo. Savory, and 11. Davidson. The fire bad a good hold when discovered, and although the Brigade arrived a few minutes after the alarm was given, they were unable to save the building, which, together with tbp contemn, was (iestroycd. Several of the young men mentioned went home to tea early in the evening, and left again for work, Stevenson being the last to leave at about half-past seven. Thc-e had been a fire in the kitchen early in the evening, but it was out before Stevenson left the house.
