The usual sale in connection with the Gisborne Wooibrokers’ Association was held yesterday at the New Zealand Loan and At ercanlire office. The outside buyers present weic Messrs Kearsky and Warnock, representing the firms ui .Uurgatroyd Bros, and Warnock Bios, respectively. Mr G. Ik Elliott, representing Dalgety and Co., aud Morrison ami Smith

were also present. Messrs Williams aud Kettle opened the sale, Mr A. F. Kennedy officiating as J auctioneer. The firm's catalogue consisted of 850 bales of wool, 25U0 sinus, and 70 hides. As there was only one buyer for wool present at- the sale, the firm's entry was passed in for private treaty. Skins sold from lid up to 2[d per lb, a small line of exceptionally fine skins .realising 2]d, Inferior sorts fetched from Id to l-jd. The prices for shins, compared with last October sales, was about a Id per lb lower. Messrs SVyllie and Mason withdrew their entries of wool. The firm offered upwards of five hundred skins, the whole of which were cleared at prices ranging from l]d to 2 [d. Inferior and damaged sorts sold from Id to lid.

The Loan and Mercantile Company did not offer any wool, aud the skins catalogued were for the most part passed, practically nothing being sold. Messrs Bennett and Sherratt offered upwards of 400 skins, Mr Wyllie officiating. The firm’s entry were cleared at Prices ranging from ljd to 2j-d for the best lots.

Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. had a large entry of wool and skins, but the reserves not being reached, most of the lines were passed. Taking the sale as a whole, there was a drop of three fatherings per pound in the price of skins since last October, this no doubt being in sympathy with the Home market. The depreeeation in the price of wool since that date is about a penny a pound, and sellers were not prepared to meet this, preferring to either hold for better prices, or ship their wool.
