By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, Dec. 10. Mr McCullough, State Minister of Dofence, in a letter to the press rebutting German newspaper sneers that England finds the colonies a broken reed, suggests that the Commonwealth should at once oiler five thousand men to the Imperial Government on the same terms as tho last contingent. Ho thinks there would be no difliculty in enrolling and despatching the whole from four to six weeks. Ho concludes : “ Everyone is anxious that tho wretched guerilla war should be ended quickly, and no time should be lost in offering and despatching tho contingent.”
