The Netherlands Railway Company of South Africa has sued Garrett Fisher for libel. A King’s Bench jury found the plaintiffs aliens and enemies. A verdict was returned fur defendants.

Messrs William O’Brien and Ilennikor Heaton, members of tho House of Commons, arrived by tho Orizaba. The former is accompanied by his wife, and is visiting Australia for the benefit of his health.

It is estimated that 200 Chineso have obtained admittance to Queensland by means of forged official permits. Sydney, Nov. 20. The Australian College of Theology class lists havo been issued. The Kov. Mr
Butterfield, of tho Diocese of Waiapu, has obtained a pass as a scholar in theology ; and T. Kay, of the Diocese of Dunedin, as a licentiate in theology. In tho Assembly the Government securod a bloodless victory on Mr Irvine’s oensuro motion, which failed to find a seconder. Mr O’Neill moved an amendment that it is absolutely necessary a reconstruction of the Government take place at once. This was also not seconded. Tho motion and amendment-wero negatived on the voices. The Promier thanked the House for tho unanimous expression of confidence. It is understood that Mr Irvino acted without consulting his party. Tho Board of Hoalth have declared Queensland and Now Caledonia freo of plague.
