Tin, spot, £llß 10s ; three months £llO. Wool: At yesterday’s sales there was a better selection and very firm prices for merinos, especially the finest, equal to the average of last sales. Continental buyers were very kecu competitors. Crossbreds wore five per cent, lower than at the closing sales in October, excepting lots suitable for the American market. The Patoka clip sold at ;i 3-Bd. Bank of England returns show the voserve to bo .£23,860,000 ; stock of gold coin and bullion, £33,055,000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 4G'9l ; in circulation, £29,285,000; public deposits. £10,371,000; other deposits, £40,298,000; Government securities, £17,525,000; other securities, £27,215,000. Consols aro at 91;’. Three months’ bills are discounted at 3; per cent. New South Wales fours are at 116; three-halfs, 103:]; throes, 941 ; Victorian fours, 112; three-halfs, 104] ; South Australian three- lialfs, 105 ; threes, 93; Queensland fours, 109 ; three-halfs, 1031 ! New Zealand fours, 111! ; three-halfs, 10G1 ; threes, 93.1 ; Tasmanian threehalfs, 1041 ; Western Australian threohalfs, 103.
The wheat market is very quiet and slightly easier. Cargoes are steady. Victorian and South Australian Scptem-ber-Octobor shipments realise 29s 3d; NewSouth Wales, prompt, 29s ; Victorian parcel, November shipment 28s 3d. Butter is very slow of sale. Colonial is. neglected at 110 sto 112 s. Danish is weak at libs to 120 s. The Wakanui’s cargoarrived in excellent condition. Sugar is not quoted. Copper is declining, on spot £63 2s 6J, three months £GO 7s Gd. Tin is irregular. On spot £ll4, threo months £lO9. Lead is at £ll Is 3d. Pig iron £5 3s. Spelter £l6 12s Gd. The Bradford wool market is firmer. Common Sixties are at 18.1 d, super 191 d. At the London sales prices are unchanged. Best sorts are in strong demand. Americans are buying the best crossbreds.
Messrs Williams and Kettle, Limited, report in regard to tbeir stock sale on Thursday: —The attendance was fairly largo, and buyers for cattlo were not satisfied, although the yarding was a largo ono. The advertised number of sheep did not como forward, owing to tho continued wet. weather up to tho sale day. Wo offered 120 head of cattlo, and cleared the lot with, the exception of four head, at prices quite up to, and at some cases at an advance on,, late sales. We quote: 12 to 15 months’ heifers (a nice line), £3 ss; 15 to 18months’ heifers, £3 15s to £3 17s yearling steers, £3 2s 6d; springers £5 10s to £8 ; empty cows, £4 17s 6d ; 21- to 3 year steers, £5 10s; 2 year steers, £4 ss; weaners 35s to 41s. Sheep.—Shorn ewes and lambs, 12s. We offered a nice lot of young draught horses, but buyers . for these seemed s.-arce, and offers failed * to come up to resorves. Our next sale will be held on December 19.
