DAMAGED STEAMER TUTS INTO PORT.

The steamer Ivotuku, from Westport to Lyttelton, coal laden, put into port this evening, having met with an accident off Jackson’s Head. It appears that while the steamer was taking tho passage between Walker’s rock and the beacon off the heads she was carried by the strong spring tide bodily on to tho rock, striking slightly amidships. Her cargo is being discharged hero. She will bo taken on the slip in the morning for inspection. The steamer is making water, but almost imperceptibly.
