Wellington, last night. The Wellington Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society, which is one of the strongest in the colony, has just ended its financial year with a credit balance of ■£3oo. It cleared £IOO from its last opera season with loianthe, An endeavor was made to get the playing rights of the “ Eose of Persia ” for the next performance, but Mr .J. C. Williamson declined to part with them, as he is bringing the opera to the colony some time next year.
