The Full Court has given judgment in the caso of a man charged with stealing a letter, wherein the point taken was that the crime had been committed against the Federal Department, and the State had no jurisdiction. Mr Justice Stephen held that the State Court had no jurisdiction. Justices Owen and Simpson, on the other hand, held that the State law appertaining to Federal territory remained in force till specially superseded by Federal enactment. On the strength of this majority the accused was sentenced to nine, months.
