AGRICULTURAL SHOWS.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wanganui, last night. There is fine weather for the Agricultural Show to-day, and thcro is a large attendance of the public. The entries in all classes are very large, thoso in stock being a record for the colony, and over 200 moro than at any other show. The attendance is large. The arrangements were a little upset owing to the heavy rain yesterday, and judging was delayed a little this morning. Good judges remarked that tho exhibits of Lincoln sheep were the finest yet seen in the colony. Messrs J. M. Wilkie, W. Wilson, and Donald Grant are so far the principal prize-takers in sheep. Mr Jarvis (Palmerston) is tho principal exhibitor in pigs, taking five firsts and four seconds. Later. —The entries wero nearly double thoso received last year, totalling over 2500. There was a splendid show of Lincolns and a marked increase in English Loicesters. Tho principal prize-winners in Lincoln were W. Wilson, J. Wilkie, and Donald Grant. In Romneys J. O. Bachelor was most successful. In Downs S. R. Lancaster was tho chief winner. In Leicesters Fernie Bros., Fantham, and Donald Grant scored. In pigs John Jarvis was the most successful competitor. In horses only a portion of tho thoroughbred, coaching, and miscellaneous were judged. In the leaping competition three spills occurred, one of those injured being removed to the hospital. To-morrow will be the most important day. Hawera, last night. Tho entries for tho Egmont A. and P. Show total 1190, an increase of between 300 and 400 on the entries last year. Tho increases are evenly distributed over all classes, of which horses (355) form the strongest.
