LEONID METEORS.

A GREAT SHOWER. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright New York, Nov. 17. A-great shower of Leonid meteors has beon seen at Capo Haiterns, North Carolina. The Leonid meteors, concerning which there has been so much talk during the last year or so, wore duo to appear on Friday night. In IBISG there was a great display of Leonid meteors, and it was calculated that a further display would occur in 1899. Nothing, however, was seen of them except at Baffin’s Bay last year, so that there seemed little possibility of our witnessing the phenomenon in 1 His part of the world, though possibly a few stragglers might be soon. At 2 on Saturday morning, and again at 3, beautiful meteors were soon by members of tho Times staff, but whether they had anything to do with tho Leonids we do not know. The first meteor seen was of a crimson color, much resembling a rocket, while tho one at 3 a.in. was a dazzling green. Both travelled towards the south-west. -
