BOWLING.
At the Gisborne bowling green on Saturday afternoon some very interesting and exciting games took place. In the match between Quigley’s and Orr’s teams the score was ’26 all at the 21st head, but in the deciding head Orr’s rink scored two. The uncertainty of bowling matches was illustrated in Judge Batliam’s v. Holland’s rinks. At the 18th head the former were 20 to Holland's 11, but in the next three heads the latter’s team scored a 5,4, and 2, thus winning by 2 points. The issue in the champion doubles contest proved very close, and the result was in doubt until the last shot was played. Following are the results:— ,
Piesse F. Pettie Jones Kasmith Cussins Colebrook Quigley (skip! 26 Orr(skip) 28 Gibbs Lewis Matthewson Sheridan Burton Sidebottom Pettigrew (skip) 10 Brown (skip)... 21 Ollivier Massey Ferris McGowan Simson Ponsford Batharn (ship) 20 Holland (skip) 22 CHAMPION DOUBLES. Humphreys Willoek Bright (skip)... 21 Coleman (skip) 24
