The report of the Board appointed to inquire into the charges against John Davies, general manager of railways, completely exonerates him and states that Davies' acts were performed by Ministerial authorities. There were shipped by the Arcadia for India 100,000 sovereigns. Melbourne, Oct. 30. Mr Barton says a good many matters will have to be considered before the Canadian suggestion re tariff arrangements can be considered. The most important will be the effect such a preference will have on the relations of Australia with other countries. Adelaide, Oct. 30. A large meeting in the Town Hall condemned the Federal tariff upon the same lines of objection as contained in Mr Reid's motion.
