General Hector Macdonald left to-night for Wellington. Ho inspected tho High -School Cadets, and while complimenting them on the smartness said he hoped that if ho visited New Zealand again he would find them with more up-to-date weapons. He had a private chut with the local volunteer officers. MELANESIAN MISSION.
Lady Eanfurly opened a bazaar to-day ill the Canterbury Hall in aid of the Melanesian Mission Ship Funds. Bishop Julius and the Mayor of Christchurch were the other speakers. A large crowd were present.
