Botha declaring that such action is indispensible lor carrying on tile struggle. __ The Johannesburg correspondent of the Cologne Gazette commends the British civil administration, and considers the army mis accomplished everything possible. No other could have done better.

A correspondent at Aberdeen wrote stating that no Scottish newspaper countenances tiie clamor ol the London press regarding the conduct of tile war, although Scotland s loss of men is thrice that of England, and more than double that of Ireland.
Air Broderick replied, warmly appreciating Scotland's spirit. Uo stated that, Great Britain's task was ail arduous one, and was best met by patient cheerfulness.
