By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, last night. | About two thousand Bounin marched through the streets of the city yesterday, headed by acolytes, in honor of the jubilee of their church. Tile Union Steamship and Northern Companies have agreed to the request of the Bailway Department for daily steam- ; el's between Oneiumga and New Plymouth to connect with the proposed daily express train ser.icc. The new steamer arrangenioii; will not, however, start till December Ist. The companies will give the new svstem a trial for the summer months. The L tiion Company, however, cannot sec its wav to detain its Weiliugton-Lyttellou steamers in Wellington to connect with the express trains. The case of Thomas Conn, charged with having stolen T7O from the Bank of New Zealand in July, 1899, was again before the Magistrate to-day. The Crown Prosecutor intimated that, owing to the absence from the colony of a material witness, the Crown did not propose to call evidence. Accused was accordingly , discharged. Nelson, last night. News has been received from the Authors’ Society stating that Messrs Chat to and Windus have, accepted and are publishing immediately Ml' A. A. Grace’s "Tales of a Dying Bare,” being a collection of Maori stones and traditions. This will supplement Mr Grace’s former book of Maoriiand stories. Some of the tales previously appeared in the Sydney Bulletin. The weather has been very unseasonable lately. A sharp frost- occurred this morning. Gccrge Thomas Boss, of Wellington, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment to-day on two charges of false pretences by means of passing valueless , cheques in Nelson in August, the sentences to be concurrent. Dunedin, last night. I Mr Charles Haynes, ex-Mayor o£ Dune- > din, is dead.
