ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT.

ACCUSED FOUND DROWNED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. C. Scbolfield, who for some years had been a clerk in the Public AVorks office here, and who was under orders for removal to AVellington, was found drowned in the river Ilcathcote, near Cashmere, to-night. It transpires that a warrant hail been taken out for his arrest for embezzleing £'29B of Government money. Scholfield was a widower, and leaves a family of two daughters.
