General Bruce Hamilton reports that 1500 men commanded by Louis Botha and Grobelnr attacked the forts at I tala Prospect. Nineteen of the enemy were killed, including the commandant. Numbers were wounded. The Boers retired north-east.
Lord Milner has directed the disposal of the property of burghers still in the field to maintain their families. Tlio Boers attacked the liasutos on the 24th. There was severe fighting. Three Boers wore killed. The Basutos retired. Lord Kitchener, replying to Shall burgher's letter expressing a desire for peace, explained that Great Britain cannot abandon the annexation of -fin „-x-Re-publics without breaking both with the loyalists.
