Patutahi School

(To tho Editor of the Turns ) Sni, —Replying to a letter, signed 11 Pattitahi,” in your issue of Friday, it is difficulty to discover what on earth is meant. He first attacks the Committee, and incidentally has a fling at the master in connection with the school grounds, alleging that the latter manages to keep a horse and cow, whilst the scholars’ ponies, or whatever they may be, are huddled up in a corner, fetlock deep in mud, and without anything to eat. Greater absurdity could hardly have been penned, and assuredly it is not the duty of the Committee to provide tho scholars’ ponies with food ; if so, it will he necessary to secure a mower and allot each child a handful of fodder, and allow any balanceremaining to go to the teacher. The duty of the Committe is to sec as to the education of the children and the genera! conduct of the school, and not to act as providers for the children’s horses. It certainly seems to he a pity that some men are always so ready to find fault, and on the most frivolous grounds. He should visit the asphalted playground of the Gisborne school and attempt to count the blades of grass there for the scholars’ horses.—l am, etc., CoM.'-rITTKKMA.V, p.S.—l am not afraid or ashamed to sign mv name, hut ’* Patutahi,” it must be remembered, was tho first to shield his identity by siguing as he did.
