Pcarks, Gunston, and Tee, grocers, were lined £ls ss, including costs, at Wandsworth, for adding an undue percentage of moisture in churning colonial butter with pure milk. A label explaining the blend was held to bo misleading to those unacquainted with the constituents of butter.
The Times’ Copenhagen correspondent is authorised to state that the Duke of Orloans apologised and begged to ask the late Queen Victoria's pardon for encouraging a French artist who caricatured her. The Queen’s answer was conceived in a most generous spirit, forgiving the Duke of Orleans in her name and the name of her family. Sir John Gorst, addressing the British Association, declared that it would prove an inestimable advantage if Great Britain adopted a scientific conception of national education similar to that already in force in the colonies, in Europe, and America.
The New South Wales collieries are arranging a pooling system, similar to that in operation in the Westphalian mines.
