TWENTY PEOPLE DROWNED.

San Francisco, Aug. 25. A sad accident occurred on the Ohio river on the evening of August 19. The steamer City of Goleonda turned over on being struck by a squall. Nearly twenty people were drowned. Those on deck jumped into the river, and were saved, but the women were in the cabin, and could not be reached. There wero a number of children lost, and among the women were several members of prominent families of Kentucky.
