FATALITIES
By Telegraph—Press Association, Auckland, last night-. The body of Walter Dempsey, licensee of the Archhill Hotel, was found in the harbor this morning. He was recently convicted of being drunk and raising a disturbance on his own premises, and received notice to give up possession. He leaves a wife and live children. Now Plymouth, last night. At the inquest on the body of Major Brown, who was killed on Devon street railway crossing on Monday, the jury returned a verdict of accidental death, no blame being attachable to anyone. A rider to the effect that in view of the dangerous position of the crossing as regards traffic, the Railway Department be urged to divert the route. Porter Hewlett, who was on duty at the crossing, was commended for his efforts to save the deceased.
