WORKMEN’S HOMES.
A FORCIBLE DEBT COLLECTOR. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wellington, last night. Allan Orr, well-known in labor circles, and Secretary of the Drivers’ Union, was to-day fined 425, and ordered to pay 27s costs, for assaulting a member of tho Union from whom he desired to collocfc money. Complainant was a tram car driver, and tho assault took placo on tho ear.
LAND REQUIRED NEAR AUCKLAND. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] Auckland, last night. The Land Valuation Department has just acquired from Mr Hoffmann a 500acre farm in tho parish of Waikomiti, near the New Lynn railway-station, tho intention being to cut the land up in small sections for tho purpose of forming workmen’s homes.
