By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Sept. 3. Espach, the iirst rebel convicted in Barkley West district, has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. Last woelt the Bnrghersdorp Treason Court convicted 275 persons charged with treason and attempted murder, including 171 voters. Or Krause, who in the capacity of burgomaster last year facilitated Lord Roberts' entry into Johannesburg, has been arrested at Westminster on a charge of espionage. The Cape Dutch have twice offered to raise a special corps to chase Boer rebels out of the colony. Krause, charged at Bow-street under the Fugitive Offenders Act with high treason in the Transvaal, was remanded for a week. Bail was refused. The Daily Telegraph’s correspondent supplies further details of the Watersvaal train-wrecking. One hundred Boers, commanded by the notorious British renegade Hinton, ambushed the train in a cutting at night, and seized and gagged the native guards in charge of the cutting. Tho train was derailed on the down grade. Colonel Vandaleur refused to surrender, and was shot through tho heart. A party of Steenaeker’s Horse captured eleven Boers and a number of waggons, also many cattle and horses, on tho Portuguese frontier. BAIBA DALE LOOTED. THE WEEKLY REPORT. They arc proceeding to Laingsburg. Lord Kitchener’s weekly report states that there were Id Boers killed, 212 taken prisoners, and 127 surrendered, while .27,000 rounds of ammunition, UM rifles, 1700 horses, 7000 cattle, and lit waggons were captured. Theroon, with 120 men, surprised a patrol at Moirens drift. Three British wero killed, four wounded, and threo escaped. The rest surrendered, but wero released after taking the oath] of neutrality. Tho Boors kept firing at tho Wutorvaal train after resistance had ceased, though informed of tho prcsonco of women and children. Ono Boor twice deliberately wounded a nurse girl. Anothor shouted, “Wo coma to kill, not to get supplies.” Passengers and officers were robbed of their money and jowcllcry, and even the hoots and children’s garments. The soldiers’ kits were rilled. A thousand pounds’ worth of treasure was seized. Beforo leaving the Boers knelt down and thanked God. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The Governor has received a cablegram that Surgeon-Major Skenu.m and sixtoou tnen of tho New Zealand forces left Capetown on August 30th by the Sophocles, for Sydney.
