A Sensational Escape.

Duploy, the Boer prisoner who escaped from Bermuda, and went to Now York, where he was arrested under the immigration law, received his liberty, and Mr Schrawm, a wealthy New Yorker, has engaged to give him employment. The story of Duploy’s escape from Bermuda.is like a chapter from a novel. He swam for three miles through shark-infested waters under the guns of three patrol boats, carrying only a knife in his mouth. He ingeniously covered his head with seaweed so as to avoid observation, and once, when a search light was turned on him, he had a narrow escape ; hut, fortunately, he dived at the right moment. Duploy was captured with Cronje. He endeavored to escape from Simonstown by digging a tunnel under the prison confines, and, later on, finally got away by donning British uniform. The young 3oer, when he was put on board the prison ship Armenian, initiated a plot to capture the vessel and compel her crew to navigate her to America. But this also failed. The Boer ex-prisoner, who is a handsome young giant with modest manner, was almost overwhelmed by admiring crowds. Ha deciding to go to Schrawm’s ranche, in Colorado. He speaks excellent English. On being photographed he asked to be placed so that the Statue of Liberty should be in the background, and said he desired to send the photo, to De Wet. He has two brothers in the field. His mother and two sisters are in Pretoria in the refuge camp, their homestead having been burned.
