HON. JAMES KERR PASSES AWAY

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Westport, last night. The Hon. James Kerr, who suffered from a severe attack of bronchial asthma while on his way to Greymouth on Tuesday last, and was detained at Westport, passed away at the residence of Mrs Hughes at 4.20 this morning. Mrs Kerr, and Mr James Kerr, son of deceased, were present at the time the death took place. Deceased was unconscious for several hours before the end came. lie was a pioneer of the West Coast, founder of the Kumara Times, part proprietor of the Grey Argus, and a promient figure in local politics, bring at various periods member and Chairman of the Westland Education Board and Greyinouth Harbor Board, member of the Borough Council, etc. The body will be taken to Greymouth this morning,
