PERSONAL.
The Hon. James Carroll returned to Wellington by the Moura last evening. The llev. Father Mulvihili is to return to Gisborno this week, after his holiday to recruit his health. The many friends of the worthy father will bo pleased to welcome him back again, and all will be pleased to see him fully restored to health.
Mr B. R. Keesing, travelling representative for tho Auckland firm of Messrs Hayman and Co., arrived in Gisborne by the Mararoa on Saturday morning. Mr Hugh Wallace, of the firm of Messrs L. D. Nathan and Co., Auckland, is at present visiting Gisborne.
Mr J. E. Coney, who has occupied the positiop of Chief Postmaster at tho Thames for more than a quarter of a century, and has been in the service forty-three years, will shortly retire on a pension. Thames newspapers report the death of Mr John Taylor at the advanced age of 74. Deceased was for many years intimately associated with goldmining, having occupied positions in chief companies at the Thames.
Mr E. Morshcad, Acting Postmaster, will give a recital of sacred music at the rlolv Trinity Church to-morrow evening. A telegram was received on Saturday, stating that Trooper James I’o.ynter, after having made a trip to England from South Africa, has reached Wellington on his return home. Ho arrives in Gisborne during the week.
