COLONEL GUDGEON HAS TO SEND HIS NEPHEW TO GAOL. [By Telegraph—Pres3 Association.] Auckland, last night. Gossett, Postmaster and Collector of Customs, is .£638 short, and E. C. Goodwin, Treasurer and t Secretary, £l6O short. Goodwin was ! killed by the explosion of a rocket. Gossett pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to two years’ hard labor. Colonel Gudgeon, uncle oE the prisoner, refunded £.700 of the money embezzled. Colonel Gudgeon was also placed in the unpleasant pnsition of having to preside over the Court which sentenced his own nephew.
