FOOTBALL.
HAWKE'S BAY REPRESENTATIVE TEAM.
(Special to Times.) Xapier, last night. The Hawke's Bay rep. footballers left on their southern tour this morning by the express, and play Wellington tomorrow, Canterbury on Saturday, Otago on the 2Sth, Wanganui on the hist, and Taranaki on September the ord. The team comprises: Hume, Bishop, MeJ.ernon, Baker, Humphries. Gumming, Tyne, Strickland, Heath, Willis, W. O'Connell, Bates, D. O'Connell, Woodwar!, J. O'C mnell, I). McCarthy, A. McCarthy, and Walker. The team is weak, especially in backs, and want of combination will probably tell against them in the big matches. The Rugby Union found it necessary to send a team on tour in order to receive return visits on future occasions.
A junior match will be played nexi Saturday, in anticipation of the visit- o: the Gisborne junior reps., which is beinji looked forward to with great interest. li
played on a Saturday, this should draw a large crowd.
