Mr Ritchie raised a storm by accepting in Committee Mr W. Redmond’s amendment to oxcinpt from tho Factory Bill tho inspection of convent laundries. Mr Burns deplored tho attitude of tho Irish members in favoring inequality and competition with workers outside. Many Unionists protested against the discrimination.

Mr Ritchio explained that the arrangement was meant to save tho Bill from obstruction in detail, and he now moved the exemption of all laundries, which was carried by 237 against 65. A special Bill dealing with laundries is promised. London, August 15. The Factory Bill has been read a third time.
