THE OAT MARKET.
CONSIDERABLE EXCITEMENT.
LARGE ORDERS FOR SOUTH AFRICA.
22,000 SACKS FOR GERMANY.
[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Invercargill, last night. There has been considerable excitement in tho oat market during the last day or two owing to more South African orders being placed, and the demand has consequently been particularly keen. Every sample offering by farmers on tho market has been eagerly competed for. Tho result has been that prices have advanced, and buyers are giving freely Is 8d to Is 9d on trucks at up-country stations, sacks extra. Tho Oceana is loading for South Africa, and the Mary Park has arrived to take in about 22,000 sacks for the German Government. Tho Port Dennison is also expected to load for South Africa. Supplies in sight are in very small compass, although it is reported that considerable quantities are still held up-country for spring threshing. It scorns evident that there is likely to be a continued demand for South Africa, which will probably keep firm at present quotations.
