CAPTAIN OP THE OCEANA UNDER REMAND.

Invercargill, last night,

Captain Turner, commander of the Oceana, now almost loaded for South Africa, was charged at the Police Court to-day with committing , perjury at* the Bluff, at the hearing of an assault case in which he was charged with taking a fisherman aboard his ship and handcuffing him, and having said that he was not aware that the man was aboard the ship till the police released him. As the Magistrate had heard the previous he declined to go on with tire charge, and defendant was remanded till Monday, when hq will he brought before Justices.
