Information has been received that the Gorman warship Cormorant, some tiino ago dispatched to St. Matsias island, Bismarck Archipelago, to punish the natives for the massacre of Herr Neucke and other members of tho German scientific party in April last, successfully carried out their mission.

The expedition had a pitched battle with tho natives, eighty of whom were killed and 17 captured and taken to Geiv man New Guinea.
