Legislative Council.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. In the Council the Hon. Mr Jenuings’ motion re the establishment of a training ship for the colony was agreed to on the voices.
Tho debate on the second reading of the Referendum Bill was again adjourned,
House of Kepresentatives
The House occupied the whole afternoon with local Bills. EVENING SITTING.
The House resumed at 7.30 p.m. Tho division on the second reading of Major Steward’s Elective Executive Bill was taken without further debate, with the result that the Bill was thrown out by 31 to 22.
Mr Fisher moved the second reading of the Libel Bill, No. 1, which he said was intended to protect citizens of this country. The press already had sufficient protection, and what was wanted w vs greater protection for the country.
After a short debate the Bill was thrown out by 26 to 21.
Mr Guinness’ S School Children Drili Hi!! was put through the final stages.
Mr G. W. Hi: -■soi! Eight Hours Bill was committed, but after considerable discussion a motion to report progress on the Bill was carried by 33 to I'J. Mr Fowlds’ Cycle Boards Bill and Mr Hogg’s Rabbit Nuisance Bill were also committed, but in each ease progress was reported.
The House rose at midnight.
