Tho deficiency is duo to the drought and other causes, which reduced tho revonuo and added expenditure. Tho latter amounted to £1,855,000.

Tho deficiency is to bo covered by Treasury bills with ten years’ currency. No action will bo taken regarding tho imposition of income tax until after the Federal tax is passed. Thoro will be no further taxation for the present, except to increaso tho stamp duty on receipts to a pouny on sums of ten shillings up to a pound, and twopeneo abovo that.

The revonuo for next year is estimated at £3,905,000, and expenditure at £3,387,000.
