PERSONAL.

Mr and Mrs Arnold Wethered leave for England in the course of the next fortnight. Mr and Mrs Cyril White left Gisborne by the Waikare on Wednesday on a visit to Australia.

Mr T. B. Strong, who was recently appointed assistant master at the Gisborne school, arrives from the South to-morrow morning.

Mr Wi Pore, M.H.R., is still at Rotorua. His friends will regret to hear that there is little improvement in his health. Mr J. Brooking, Registrar of the Native Land Court, is at present visiting Tolago Bay on business in connection with the Court.

Mr E. W. Paslcy, Collector of Customs, has received notice from the Department that his successor will arrive in Gisborne on Sunday next. Mr H. W. O. Johnstone, of Auckland, will act as judge at the Poultry Show today. Mr D. D. Hyde, Government cx- ! port, arrives from the South to-morrow morning, and will give a lecture in the evening. Mr R. Cole, second master of the Gisborne district school, has received a telegram from Dunedin notifying him of the death of his father, which took place at St. Kilda, South Dunedin, on Tuesday. Mr Cole will probably leave for the South on Sunday evening. His many friends throughout the district will join with us in extending our heartfelt sympathy to him in his sad bereavement.

We ate pleased to learn that Mr R. Sherratt, who was injured a short time back through his horse stumbling, is making good progress towards recovery'.
