The Gisborne Times. PUBLISHED EVERY MORNING. GISBORNE, AUGUST 2, 1901. CO-OPERATIVE DAIRYING.
Tiie subject of eo-operativo dairying is coming more into evidence each year, and the subject is of such great importance to this' district that the more it is discussed, in a practical way, the better it will be. The series of article's that have been appearing in the Times, from the pen of Mr W. Douglas Lysnar, have been read with a great deal of interest by the farmers, and, as a matter of course, business people have also been keenly interested in tho subject. The advantages and disadvantages have been ably set forth by Mr Lysnar. He allows that in some respects the figures may be questioned, but claims that they are as nearly accurate as can be given. At any rate, they have not yet been questioned. Mr Lysnar is certainly entitled to the thanks of the settlers and businoss people generally for the trouble he has gone to in the matter, and ho may well be complimented for tho able manner in which he has dealt with the subject. It has been handled throughout by Mr Lysnar in a masterly manner, and with such attention to detail as should enable each settler to sum up for himself, and decide as to what should be the future course of action. There is no sentiment about the subject. It is strictly a commercial matter, and as such it should be seriously thought out by those directly interested—everyone in the district is indirectly interested, for it will greatly profit the district if the dairying industry can be more rapidly developed
