Long-Lived Lunatics.
WOMAN UNDER RESTRAINT FOR 47 YEARS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wellington, last night. John McEwon, aged 71 years, formerly a military settlor at Opotiki, died at Porirua Lunatic Asylum yesterday. He had been under restraint for thirty-one years. It was mentioned at the inquest that among the patients is a woman admitted to the asylum in 1854. ,
