FIREWORKS LUNACY.

THE ROCKET EXPLOSION AT INVERCARGILL. FRAGMENTS OF THE ROCKET. (By Telegraph—Press Association.)

Invercargill, last night,

The removal by a doctor of the fragments of metal and gutta-percha from the wounds of the sufferers by the rocket explosion on Friday night seems to set at rest the question of the particular rockets which caused the destruction, as these materials ire not used in ordinary pyrotechny. The police have taken possession of the stand and re-erected it. A one-inch board has a hole drilled through it, and of three pieces by the quartering of which a makeshift rocket socket is made, only one remains.

At the inquest on Saturday, the Coroner pointed out that not even the local authority could give permission to uso firoworks in such a place. In addition to a wound on the face and throat, it has been ascertained that the deceased (Mrs Sneyd) had a wound on the head, exposing the brain.
