The Bank of England returns show the stock of gold coin and bullion to be X 35,535,900 ; reserve, X 24,430,000 ; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 42'9G ; in circulation, .£29,930,000 ; on public deposits, .110,052,000 ; on other deposits, X46,G34,000 ; invested in Government securities, Xl-1,802,000 ; in other securities, X 35,407,000. Three months’ bills arc at 2 7-16.
Consols are at 93 New Zealand 3 per cent, debentures, 90 ; Tasmanian, 31, 103 ; Western Australian, 31, 102 ; the others arc unaltered. Wheat.—The unfavorable crop reports are hardening the French markets. Others are dull in sympathy with America, where bears are pressing sales, anticipating a bumper crop. Cargoes arc quiet. The Victorian March-April cargo reached 28s 9d. The copper market is quiet ; on spot, XO7 10s ; three months, .£69 10s. The tin market is dull ; on spot, .£l3O ss. Iron is at 50s 10U1. and lead at Xl2 7s fid. The sugar market is dull, and the prices are unchanged. Wool.—The Waikoukou clip sold for 4,jd. The Bradford market is quiet and prices unchanged.
