Bain fell at Hastings this morning, interfering slightly with tho final gallops, The course is in fine order, and if tho weather holds up will be in good order tomorrow. The outlook, however, is not particularly promising. Work this morning was confined to steady pacing, with sprints home over tho last furlong. Moifaa is a strong public fancy for both Hurdles and the big Steeplechase. Napier, midnight. The weather promises to bo fine for the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s Winter Meeting. All tho visiting horses havo arrived, and there is every prospect of a good meeting. Coeur de Lion and Boiler are most in favor for the H.B. Hurdles, and Moifaa and Evening Wonder the Steeplechase.

The Hairtrigger people had evidently a better thing on than most people thought. But for the clever recovery of Coeur de Lion’s l-iler, the Gisborno horse would have won the Grand National Hurdles, and his party have scooped in’ about £2OOO over the double outside of the stake and straight out bets. —Observer. Hairtrigger is a coming good hurdler, says an Auckland writer. Ho was very nearly proving another Hopgarden, and is not far below him as it is.
